About Pyramid Solitaire

Remove uncovered pairs totalling 13 from the seven-row pyramid and the top waste card. Ace is 1, Jack 11, Queen 12, and King 13. Kings clear alone. You may pass through the stock three times. Clear all 28 pyramid cards to win; unused stock cards may remain.

How to play

  • Select two uncovered cards whose ranks add to 13: Ace and Queen, 2 and Jack, 3 and 10, and so on.
  • Tap an uncovered King to remove it alone. A card is uncovered only when both cards overlapping it have been removed.
  • You can pair the top waste card with an uncovered pyramid card. The face-down stock and cards below the waste top are not playable.
  • Draw from the stock or press D. An empty stock can be recycled twice, giving three passes total.
  • Use H for a hint and U or Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo. The goal is to clear the pyramid, not necessarily every stock card.

Scoring

Every removed card earns 25 points; completing a pyramid row adds 50. A win adds 1,000 plus a speed bonus up to 1,000, falling by 2 per second. Only cleared pyramids enter this game's own leaderboard.

Tips

  • Clear from the bottom, but think about the row above. Removing a card only helps if it uncovers something you can pair.
  • Don't pair the waste card with a pyramid card if another pyramid card would take it. Pyramid cards are the ones you have to clear; stock cards are not.
  • Watch for buried partners. If the cards that could pair with a card are all trapped above it in the pyramid, its partner has to come from the stock.
  • Count your passes. You get three trips through the stock, so on the last one, every card that goes by is gone for good.

Deals and saves

Deals are shuffled, not guaranteed winnable. If you run out of moves, undo or start a new deal. Each game keeps its own progress and leaderboard. A new deal does not affect your other solitaire games.

Frequently asked questions

What adds up to 13 in Pyramid solitaire?

Ace counts as 1, Jack 11, Queen 12 and King 13. So Ace and Queen, 2 and Jack, 3 and 10, 4 and 9, 5 and 8, and 6 and 7 make pairs, and a King clears on its own.

How many times can I go through the stock?

Three: the stock can be recycled twice.

Do I have to use every card to win?

No. You win by clearing all 28 pyramid cards. Cards left in the stock don't matter.

Is every Pyramid deal winnable?

No. Deals are shuffled, not chosen to be winnable, and many cannot be cleared, which makes a win in Pyramid worth more than it looks.
